A Nurse Writer
Hi there, and welcome! My name is Kristin, and I am the nurse writer for this blog. I have been in nursing for almost 20 years and worked in healthcare before I became a nurse as well. I also grew up surrounded by medical professionals since I lived in a small town and my mom was a nurse at the local hospital.
Though I have had the privilege of various healthcare field experiences in my life and career, from clinics to ambulances to procedure and ICU rooms, I don't come here as an expert, but as a life-long learner. Healthcare in the United States is a vast and complicated monster of an industry, and expensive. I'll make no bones about that. And, just like everyone else, I and other healthcare professionals deal with illnesses and injuries, and the same for our loved ones. So, hopefully, I can share a little of what I've learned over the years and continue to learn, and make navigating the medical world a little easier, and maybe a little less expensive in the process.
My mission
I want to empower people through information and education so that they can be the authors of their own healthcare stories. Every person is unique and has a similarly unique vision for their life, including how they want to tackle their health through their lifespan.
My vision
Maybe, as more of us are empowered to direct our health the way we want to, we can change the course of healthcare in this country as a whole for the better.
