Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog, “Scrubs & Cents”. I’m really excited to get this project off the ground. It has been many years in the making. So, first of all, I want to dedicate this blog specifically to all the patients over the years who asked me to write a book about healthcare tips and different healthcare education topics. I still don’t know if I’m ready to tackle a book. After all, I’ve been nearly 20 years in nursing and only now come around to writing a blog. But who knows what the future holds. For now, though, thank you to all those who believed I had something to share with the rest of the world.

Second, I want to dedicate this blog as well to all my wonderful colleagues over the years; nurses, doctors, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, environmental services, hospital engineering, nutritionists, med tech, lab techs, supply stockers, EMTs, paramedics, and anyone else I may have forgot to mentions. Without you, our healthcare system wouldn’t run. I’ve also learned so much from you throughout my career. So, thank you for the amazing conversations and experiences.

Thirdly, I want to thank my family. We none of us are perfect, but we all love and support each other, and I know how blessed I am to have that and how blessed I am to have a whole bunch of you. Also, thank you for trusting me enough to be the guinea pigs for my ideas, being willing to explore other approaches to healthcare, and finding what works for you.

Lastly, but not leastly, here is to every new reader and anyone else who can take something from this blog, make it their own. I raise a toast to all you brave and curious individuals who are willing to forge your own path through an often confusing and overwhelming world of medicine. May the light of knowledge illuminate your path even in the darkest times; may you always find a kindred heart to lean on when your path feels lonely, and may knowing what you want for yourself and who you are always bring you peace of mind.
